Peptide Guide
General laboratory practice for receiving, storing and documenting research materials.
Receiving and inspecting a shipment
- Check the outer package for damage before opening, and note any problems with photos.
- Confirm each vial’s seal is intact and the label is legible: compound name, amount and lot number.
- Match each vial against your order confirmation and the lot-specific COA.
- Log the arrival date, lot number and storage location in your lab records.
Storage of sealed vials
- Keep sealed vials cold and protected from light unless the product page or COA states otherwise.
- Store vials upright in a labeled container, away from frequently opened doors.
- Avoid repeated temperature swings, such as moving vials in and out of cold storage.
- Keep the original label and COA together so the lot can always be traced.
General handling hygiene and PPE
- Wear gloves, eye protection and a lab coat as your institution requires.
- Work on a clean, uncluttered surface and use clean, appropriate lab tools.
- Label every prepared solution with the compound, concentration, date, lot number and your initials.
- Never eat, drink or store food in areas where research materials are handled.
Understanding a certificate of analysis
- Lot number: ties the certificate to a specific batch. It should match your vial label.
- HPLC purity: the share of the measured signal belonging to the target compound, reported as a percentage.
- Mass spectrometry: confirms identity by comparing the observed mass with the expected molecular weight.
- Test date and lab: show when and by whom the batch was analyzed. Read more in How to read a COA.
Calculating concentration
- Concentration is the amount of material divided by the volume of diluent: mg ÷ mL = mg/mL.
- Multiply mg/mL by 1,000 to express it in mcg/mL.
- To find the volume holding a given amount, divide that amount by the concentration.
- Use the to check your arithmetic, and record every calculation.
Disposal
- Dispose of unused material, vials and consumables according to your institution’s chemical waste rules.
- Do not pour research materials down the drain or put them in general trash unless your rules allow it.
- Record disposal in your lab log alongside the lot number.
Research use only
All Bio Elevate products are sold strictly for laboratory research use. They are not for human or veterinary use, not for consumption, and not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. This guide is general laboratory information, not usage or procedure advice. Always follow your institution’s safety rules and the documentation supplied with each lot.
